Shilajit & Horny Goat Weed, Explained: The Supporting Ingredients
Shilajit-derived fulvic acid and Horny Goat Weed are the two supporting ingredients in VirilSense's formula, addressing testosterone and circulation respectively.
Understanding each ingredient's more modest, but still genuine, research base helps complete the picture.
Shilajit-derived fulvic acid
Shilajit is a mineral-rich resin found in Himalayan rock deposits, used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. Clinical research published in the journal Andrologia (Pandit et al., 2016) found that purified shilajit taken over 90 days was associated with statistically significant increases in total testosterone, free testosterone, and DHEA in healthy male volunteers, indexed on PubMed.
Horny Goat Weed (Epimedium)
Epimedium contains icariin, a compound that functions as a mild PDE5 inhibitor in preclinical studies, the same enzyme class targeted by prescription erectile dysfunction medications, indexed on PubMed. Human clinical evidence is considerably more limited than the preclinical research, and effect sizes are much smaller than pharmaceutical PDE5 inhibitors.
Applying this to VirilSense
Shilajit-derived fulvic acid and Horny Goat Weed are two of the four ingredients in VirilSense's formula, reasonable supporting additions alongside the formula's more substantially researched Tongkat Ali and Yohimbine.
